WE BELIEVE THE TRUE WORD OF GOD THAT BECAME FLESH “JESUS”

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Life Church Of Uvalde UPCI is a Bible-based church. That means we seek to believe and practice what is explicitly taught in the Holy Bible. Based on the Holy Bible, we believe the following:

About the Bible

The Holy Bible Is The Inspired Word of God! It is True In All That It Teaches. As the flawless Word of God, it is our only authority for what we believe and how we live (2 Timothy 3.15-17).

About God and Jesus Christ

There Is Only One God. The One God has revealed Himself to us as our Father, in His Son Jesus Christ, and through the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that is, the One God manifested in and through an authentic human life. To see Jesus is to see God. (Deut 6.4; John 14.9; Ephesians 4.4-6; Col 2.9; 1 Timothy 3.16).

About Sin and Salvation

Everyone has sinned and needs salvation. Salvation comes by grace through faith based on the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ (Romans 1:28-32; 3:23-25; 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9, Galatians 3:22, 1 John 1:8-10, Acts 2:36-39).

About the Gospel and Conversion

The gospel is the good news that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. We express our belief in the gospel through our obedience to the gospel. We obey the gospel and apply it to our lives by repenting of our sins (death to sin), being Baptized in water (via submersion) in the Name Of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of our sins (burial), and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit (resurrection). This threefold experience is the consistent pattern of conversion in the early church (1 Corinthians 15.1-4; 2 Thessalonians 1.8; 1 Peter 4.17; Mark 1.15; Acts 15.7; Romans 6.3-4; Acts 2.4, 37-39; 8.9-17; 10.1-48; 19.1-7).

About Christian Living

As Christians we are to love God and love others. We are to worship God joyfully and seek to live a life that is pleasing to him both inwardly and outwardly—in our thoughts, words, and actions. We are empowered to live a life pleasing to God through the Holy Spirit. As a Pentecostal church, we believe that the supernatural gifts of the Spirit are for the church today and are available to all Spirit-filled believers (Mark 12.28-31; 1 Corinthians 12.8-10; 2 Corinthians 7.1; Romans 8.13-14; Galatians 5.19-26; Hebrews 12.14).

 The Church

The Church, born on Pentecost Sunday, is the body and bride of Jesus Christ. It is committed to the teachings of Christ and seeks to obey the Word of God. It is the desire for the church to share the whole gospel to the whole world. The Church works together, through love, truth, and unity, to glorify God and share salvation through Jesus Christ with this world. (Matthew 16:18-19; 18:15-20; Acts 2:41-47; 5:11-14; 13:1-3; 14:23; 16:5; 20:28; 1 Corinthians 7:17; 9:13-14; 12; Ephesians 1:22-23; 2:19-22; 3:10-12; 5:22-32; Colossians 1:18; 3:15; 1 Timothy 4:14; 1 Peter 5:1-4; Revelation 21:2-3)

Divine Healing

There is no sickness or disease too hard for God. Any of us, our children, or our friends can be healed by the power of God! God has made Himself known through the ages by miraculous healings and has made special provisions in the age of grace to heal all who will come to Him in faith and obedience. Divine healing was purchased for us by the blood of Jesus Christ, especially by His stripes (Isaiah 53:5; Matthew 8:16-17; I Peter 2:24).

Jesus went everywhere healing those who were sick (Matthew 4:23-24), and He commanded His disciples to do the same (Matthew 10:8). He said concerning those who believe the gospel, “They shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover” (Mark 16:18). Mighty healings and miracles followed the disciples wherever the gospel was preached.

“Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”  (James 5:14-16).

Heaven and Hell

Heaven: We believe that a person’s eternal destination is determined by their response to the Lord Jesus Christ. Heaven is a literal place reserved for those who have obeyed the Gospel message and are living a holy life. (Matt. 5:3, 12, 20; 6:20, 19:21, 25:34; John 14:1–3, 17:24; 2 Cor. 5:1; Heb. 11:16; 1 Peter 1:4; Heb. 9:27; Rev. 19:20)

Hell: Scripture describes Hell as “everlasting fire,” “torment,” “wrath,” and “lake of fire.” We believe Hell is a literal place of eternal separation from God. (Mat. 25:41; Mark 9:43-48; Heb. 9:27; Rev. 14:9-11, 20:12-15, 21:8)

Jesus Christ Will Return In The Future Also Known As The Rapture

Jesus Christ is coming again to take away His bride, the church. In the end, there will be the final resurrection and the final judgment. The righteous will inherit eternal life, and the unrighteous eternal death. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 20:11-15).
